Privacy Policy

Fetchster is a native macOS download manager with a companion browser extension ("Fetchster Capture"). This policy explains what information the app and extension access, and how it is handled.

What the extension accesses

When you download a file or start a torrent, the extension reads the download URL and sends it to the Fetchster app with your browser's User-Agent (and the referring page, for links added from the right-click menu).

Where that data goes

All of it is sent only to the Fetchster app running on your own Mac, over the local loopback interface (127.0.0.1). The data is used solely to perform the download you requested and is not transmitted to any server operated by Fetchster. We do not collect, store, or transmit analytics, telemetry, or any personal information.

Downloads and local data

The app stores your download list locally on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Fetchster). Files download to the folder you choose. When you enable optional features, the app downloads engine binaries (ffmpeg, aria2) from their official sources. Torrent downloads connect to peers and trackers you explicitly initiate.

Third-party services

Fetchster uses open-source tools (FFmpeg, aria2) whose own privacy policies apply to their operation. The app itself has no account system and sends no data to us.
